The main road leading to the city of La Spezia goes through green hills till reaching the Gulf of Spezia<\/strong>, better known as the Gulf of Poets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Reaching La Spezia via this road is an amazing journey<\/strong> and allows visitors to appreciate an important aspect of the Liguria region.\"Marco$\"<\/p>\n

The hills <\/strong>in Liguria occupies much of the territory and are up to 900 meters high<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They are full of crops colouring the landscape<\/strong> with olive trees, grapes<\/span> and many species of flowers and aromatic plants<\/span> such as poppies, mint, sage and daffodils.<\/p>\n

There are also forests<\/strong> of pine, chestnut, beech, oaks and holm oaks<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The hilly landscape also presents numerous passages and crossings<\/strong>, including: Ginestro pass, Turchino pass, Bocchetta pass, Jupiter pass and Scoffera pass. <\/span><\/p>\n

Once near La Spezia visitors face the Gulf of Poets, crowned by those green hills. And the landscape in both directions, although very different, is beautiful.<\/p>\n

The land enclosed between the coast and the mountains behind the hills is the hinterland of Liguria.<\/p>\n

This is an area where typical traditions and flavours are still alive in its villages.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this area there are indeed many rural towns<\/strong> and medieval villages <\/strong>with their typical houses and the slow pace of country life.<\/p>\n

Discovering this is funny and interesting. Visitors can go horseback riding<\/strong>, hiking<\/strong>, going by car along the old roads that reach the peaks.\"aquifausto\"<\/p>\n

All around there are old houses, castles and churches<\/strong>, as suspended in an atmosphere of past times.<\/p>\n

For trekking<\/strong> enthusiasts, there are many challenging paths, such as the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri <\/strong>which follows the ridges of mountains for 440 kilometre<\/span>s.<\/p>\n

There also are many areas of natural interest<\/strong> including the Ligurian Alps, the Melogno<\/span> and the protected areas<\/strong> of Finale, Adelasia, Antola, Aveto, Zatta<\/span> – Bargonasco and Mount Gottero<\/span>. The reserves of Mount Beigua<\/strong> and the promontory of Portofino<\/strong> are also worth a visit.<\/p>\n
