The Province of Rome is a province of Lazio, counts 4,110,035 inhabitants and is the most populous province of Italy. It covers an area of 5352 kilometres ² and includes 121 municipalities.

This province contains within itself the Vatican City.

It covers almost one third of the territory of Lazio. Geographically it occupies the flat area of the Agro Romano, of the Tiber and of the Aniene Valley. In the territory there are several lakes, almost all of volcanic origin.

The province of Rome has an archaeological heritage of inestimable value, representing the most complete and amazing panorama of Italian and European culture.

The ruins of Roman and Etruscan settlements, the archaeological remains scattered throughout the country, monuments, fascinate visitors, even today, with the mystery of their surprisingly still alive past.
