The Province of Rieti is located in Latium and has 159,018 inhabitants, covering an area of 2749 kilometres ² and including 73 municipalities.
The territory is mostly mountainous, with the Massif of the Duchess, the Monti della Laga (2458 m) to the Mount Terminillo (2217 m).
Of great importance are the two artificial lakes: Lake Salto and Lake Turano, both born in the Fascist period. There are several protected areas in the province.
To the south lies the Regional Natural Park of Monti and to the southeast Lucretili a small part of the Natural Park Sirente Velino.
Between the two lies the natural reserve Navegna Monte-Monte Cervia (between Lake and Lake Salto del Turano).
To the north-east there is the group of the Monti della Laga ( National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga).
In the Plain Reatina there is the Natural Reserve of Lakes Lungo and Ripasottile, to the west part of the Reserve Tevere Farfa.
