Ferrara, one of the main cities of Emilia Romagna, counts over 132,000 inhabitants.
Located in a very fertile area, the city is situated near Po di Volano and its origins are very ancient.
The first documentation of the existence of Ferrara dates back to 754 AD.
For four centuries it was ruled by Este Family and they also coincide with the most important time of its development, both from the economical and cultural point of view.
Ferrara is now a vital city, rich in events like concerts, exhibitions and cultural meetings.
The economy of Ferrara has received in recent years a significant boost thanks to the ever increasing tourist market, due to the listing (in 1995 the historic center of Ferrara and in 1999 the Delta del Po and the Delizie Estensi) in the List of World Heritage Sites List of UNESCO.
