It is the main town of the island of Ischia.
It is divided into two major fractions "Ischia Porto" and "Ischia Ponte".
Ischia Porto, formerly known as "Villa dei Bagni", is a resort full of commercial activities and pleasant walks.
On the right bank of the port, better known as the "Rive Droite" is the largest concentration of restaurants and taverns and it is one of the main meeting points of the local life.
La “Piazzetta dei Pini "is the meeting point for young people thanks to night clubs and piano bars.
Ischia Ponte also called the "Village of Celso", is the old part of the town.
Besides the castle, the village is full of palaces going back to the XVIII Century.
The most important building is the "Bishop's Palace” .
