The Isle of Ischia is one the most ancient Greek colonies in Italy.
It is the largest island in the bay of Naples. The coastline north and west are very developed, while in the south the island is more peaceful.
It is a seaside and spa resort consisting of two main centers: Ischia Ponte and Ischia Porto. Ischia Ponte, the oldest, inhabited by fishermen, is located around the isle where the Castle stands, joined to the mainland by a bridge. Ischia Porto extends towards the area of the pine forest.
The main road of Ischia (ss 270) is long 30 kilometers and connects all the towns crossing.
There are eighty spa resorts, scattered in the municipalities of Ischia, (in Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Ischia and Barano) and offer relief to illness thanks to water in most cases radioactive, where the temperature varies from 15 to 86 degrees.
