Largely destroyed by heavy bombing during World War II, Pescara is now a modern city.

Walking along the streets of Pescara visitors can see:

the Cathedral of St. Cetteo, built in the years 30, 900, preserves, in addition to the sacred relics of the saint, a precious work of Guercino (XVII century);

the Basilica of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, erected in the eighteenth century in neoclassical style, keeps valuable works of local artists;

the Casa Natale di Gabriele D'Annunzio, in which the great poet was born in 1863;

the Porto, beating heart of the city and multicultural crossroads;

the Fish Museum and the Museo delle Genti d'Abruzzo, which are respectively collected fossils and items related to daily life in Abruzzo in the past centuries.

In the City one of the districts of food and drinks, is in the old Pescara: a maze of restaurants, taverns, pubs and lounge bars, very trendy as in a few cities in Italy.
