La Pergola, Hotel and Restaurant, drawn from a sixteenth century-building, lies by the lake, in a most typical fishermen's hamlet called Pescallo, right on a shore of the promontory of Bellagio, turning south-east and facing the Lecco branch of Lake Como. The House was drawn from a building dating back to 1500, and assigned to a convent in the past centuries. The centre of Bellagio is but 10 minutes' walk. Thanks also to recent works and careful restyling, the building has recovered the original harmonic structure from the old convent. The guest-quarters and the Restaurant, both on the ground floor, still keep the typical low vault-ceilings often used in the architecture of the villages by the lake.
By the beginning of the 19th century the Restaurant was named "Il Porto"; the Mazzoni's took it over and called it "La Pergola". At the present the Restaurant gives on to the lake with a wide dining room suitable for 60 people and offers the right atmosphere for work or romantic dinners. In summer, the panoramic terrace, sunny but cool, perfect for parties, can receive till 90 people.
