The castle of Oleggio Castello is an almost unique example, in Italy, of neo-gothic style based on the original english 16th century gothic Tudor architecture. British art experts have recently described the villa's architecture as one of "the purest reinterpretations of neo-gothic tudor existing in Italy".

It was the Marquis Claudio Dal Pozzo d'Annone, who, in the second half of the 19th century, enlarged and rebuilt the existing structure, which dates back to the middle ages. Great care and attention was paid to even the smallest details, and the villa is an outstanding example of this typical english cultural and architectural period. Externally the villa presents a compact and uniform appearance. The central porch, and the impressive square west tower are counterbalanced by the octagonal east tower and offset by the chapel. Internally, the architectural style is in harmonious accord with the decor. The stained glass chapel windows were brought specially from England and the wrought iron gates were copied from scottish castles. The neo-gothic influence is evident in the massive carved wooden doors, the hand blocked painted walls, and the abundant use of wood. Decorative additions such as the marble angel corner stones used for the wooden beams, the stone carvings, base reliefs, coats of arms and busts used on the exterior are all in keeping with the period. The overall predominating influence can be attributed to William Morris and "The Arts and Crafts" movement. This is particularly evident in the use of hand stencils, in the design on the wall tiles, as well as the decorations used on the furniture. The villa is still principal seat of the Dal Pozzo d'Annone family. The castle itself is surrounded by idyllic parkland, typical of the 19th Century, free from rigorous symmetry and allowed to grow naturally. pacious lawns, an ornamental lake with grotto, and an island with weeping willows, as well as an abundant variety of rare trees, make the Park of particular botanical interest as well as a romantic backdrop for any event.
